October 2, 2021 is called World Card Making Day. That’s today!
It’s a great day to work on cards that you can send to family and friends. One of the most common questions I get asked is, “why do you make cards?” It’s a valid question. It’s definitely easier and cheaper to walk into Target and just purchase one. But I don’t.
I love making cards. There’s something relaxing to me about the create process. Taking paper, ink and stamps and transforming them into creative works of art. I love thinking about the person I am creating for – what is happening in their life, what they mean to me, how my card and words might encourage them.
Of course it’s not a perfect process. Scraps end up on the floor. Mistakes get made and pieces are cut again. And again. And sometimes yet again. But I find joy in the process even when I mess up.
So today, I hope you’ll find joy in card making. Whether you make one card or ten. Relax, be creative and send some happy mail. You’ll be glad you did.
